„Urnex“ Dezcal™ — descaling powder for boilers and heating elements

Citric acid descaler for espresso machines and other coffee equipment. One 200 g pouch makes 3.9 litres of solution.

„Urnex“ Dezcal™ is a scale remover made in the USA for fast and effective descaling of boilers and heating elements. It also keeps taps, sprayheads and milk systems in good order. The product is listed in the NSF Nonfood Compounds Program (category A3).

The main active ingredient is citric acid (40–60 %), with 3–5 % sulfamic acid and 1–2 % aluminium sulfate. The product is a white granular powder that dissolves in water.

Applications

• Espresso machine boilers and heating elements.
• Coffee brewers and hot water tanks.
• Taps, sprayheads and milk systems.

Directions for use

Dosage. One pouch (200 g) per 3.9 litres of warm water.

1. Add the whole pouch to 3.9 litres of warm water and stir until the powder has dissolved.
2. Pour the solution into the espresso machine or coffee brewer and leave it to work for up to 30 minutes.
3. Drain the solution and rinse the system twice with clean water.

The exact procedure depends on the machine; if the machine manufacturer specifies a different descaling procedure, follow that instead.

Warning: causes serious eye irritation (H319); may cause respiratory irritation (H335). Avoid breathing dust. Wear eye protection. Call a poison centre or doctor if you feel unwell. If eye irritation persists, get medical advice or attention. For professional users only. Store only in the original packaging, tightly closed, in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place away from strong oxidising agents.
